Trg
TrgThe serenity of the Kupa's meandering among the silver-lined willows and small river islands reflect the solitude and relaxation of the old village of TRG. Once a planned medieval settlement, it was built in 1329 when the ban (governor) Mikac Prodavic relocated the village under the Ozalj castle in order to protect it from the attacks of invaders. The historic center of Trg has only been partially preserved along with a church, one of the oldest in this region. The baroque Church of All Saints, with its Gothic shrine, shows the long history of its development in its present from. The church in Trg is a valuable monument because of its construction heritage and preserved old inventory. The village of Trg is unique for northern Croatia because of its ethnologically interesting traditions. One only needs to mention the white folk dress and the characteristic women's headgear known as the jalba, made according to an ancient Slavic technique. Also, there is an especially odd, and only recently discarded habit: the transportation of the deceased on a sled pulled by harnessed oxen, not only during winter but also during the summer!
